20241109-10 Beginner’s Meditation Class – Experiencing Presence: A Journey in Chan Meditation

Nearly 90 participants attended the Beginner’s Meditation Class on 9-10 November, with ages ranging from 15 to 71. Over two days, they were introduced to foundational Chan meditation techniques and concepts.

Venerable Chang Ji and Venerable Yan Cheng explained that the essence of meditation is being fully present in the moment, emphasizing the principle: “Wherever the body is, there the mind should be.” By exploring the three core elements of regulating the body, breath, and mind, participants practiced various forms of meditation, including sitting, moving, walking, eating, and sleeping meditation.

These teachings aim to help participants integrate Chan meditation techniques into daily life, enhancing relaxation, focus, and awareness. Participants are encouraged to continue practicing at home, join the Meditation Group Practice sessions every Friday from 8:30 to 10:00 pm, and look forward to 1-day retreats next year.
